Today, I’m taking a look…
Features of the Sedu Revolution Flat Iron:
The Sedu Icon is the latest version of the popular Sedu Revolution flat iron. Sedu has two main models of hair straightener on the current market – the Sedu Icon 1 Inch and the Sedu Professional 1 1/5″. There is a considerable price difference between these models – the Icon often costs up to $100 more than the Professional. But it is a far more versatile straightener and offers a much broader range of features. The most important features (the ones that give this straightener the professional difference) are:
Different Plate Sizes to Suit Your Hair Type:
The Sedu flat iron is available in two different plate sizes. If you want to use your straighteners to create a range of styles – straight, waves, and curls – then the one-inch (Icon) plates are your best bet. They’re also much better for short hair as they allow you to get closer to the roots. If you don’t want to use your you’re looking for a model that can straighten your hair quickly and effectively, the thicker plates will be fine.
Floating Ceramic Plates:
The floating plates on the Sedu flat iron make it easier to straighten hair by ensuring maximum heat penetration and they also prevent your hair from snagging and tearing. Noone wants ragged, burned ends because their flat iron tried to eat their hair!
Digital Display and Adjustable Heat Settings:
The Icon model allows you to adjust the heat settings to suit your hair type – as low as you can go for fine or delicate hair and hotter for coarse or frizzy hair. It is important NOT to be tempted to turn the heat up too high just for faster styling. While the heat settings do go up to 450 degrees, you are likely to FRY your hair if you turn it to the top setting. I recommend starting at around 310 degrees and either going up or down until you get the perfect heat setting for your hair.
The Patented StyleShield:
Have you ever burnt your hand or your scalp with your flat iron? It’s not pretty! The Icon model has a special feature to keep you safe – the patented StyleShield. This feature protects your hands and your scalp while still allowing for precision styling.
60 Minute Auto Shut-Off:
If you’re a little forgetful in nature then the Sedu Icon has a special feature to help you out. The auto shut-off feature kicks in after 60 minutes, which should help to ensure that you don’t burn your house down! Personally, I think it would be better if it was 30 minutes – a lot of damage could still be done in an hour. Note that this feature is available with the Icon but not with the Professional (1 1/2 inches).
Two Year Warranty:
Peace of mind is always an important consideration when you’re investing in personal electronics. And, luckily, the Sedu flat iron comes with a two-year limited warranty. It covers faults with the equipment but not damage caused by the buyer. Make sure you read the terms and conditions of the warranty carefully to avoid disappointment.
What do the Reviewers Say About Sedu Flat Iron?
Early reviews of Sedu Straighteners have mostly been positive. Buyers comment that the ceramic plates are excellent for both straightening and curling or waving and that it’s easy to get nice and close to the roots. Several reviewers also commented that they were impressed with the long-lasting results with this flat iron. One reviewer from super-humid Florida said that this is one of the only flat irons she’s used where her hair doesn’t revert to frizz-city at around about lunchtime.
As we know, girls tend to get very brand-loyal when they find something they love and many reviewers comment that they wouldn’t even look at another brand of straighteners after using Sedu. High praise!
Conclusion: Is This Your Next Straightener?
These straighteners are not as well-known as other professional brands such as Bio Ionic or Babyliss but they do have features which give them the professional edge. If you want the versatility of styling and the added safety features, the Sedu Icon is probably the best model to choose. But if you’re just looking for a quick straighten that’ll last all day, the thicker plates on the Sedu Professional would be the better choice. Remember that there is a significant cost difference so it just depends on how much you’re willing to spend.
Note that these straighteners do not have dual voltage – only 125V – so they might not be the best model if you’re a regular traveler.
