All the Bells and Whistles? Isa is definitely one of this year’s up and coming hair straighteners brands. In this flat iron review, I’ll take a look at one of their most popular models, the Isa Professional Flat Iron. Does this high-tech looking gadget really have all the features you could want in a professional flat iron? It’s priced in a slightly higher range than the likes of Chi and Bio Ionic. Is it really better than the hair straightener best brands?
Read on to see my comparisons between the features, design, price, and hair straightening reviews of the Isa Professional Flat Iron and some of the most trusted brands of hair straighteners on the market.
The Professional Difference
The difference between professional and cheaper ceramic tourmaline flat irons is generally that cheaper irons have metal plates coated in ceramic and professional irons have solid ceramic plates. This is one of the major reasons for the huge price difference between cheaper and professional irons. I’ve checked out the specs on The Isa Professional Flat Iron and they are definitely solid ceramic (I’ll tell you why this is a good thing in my “What’s the Damage?” section).
Nifty Safety Features
I decided to compare hair straightener safety features in some of the leading brands and this model definitely ticks all the boxes. Here are three ways these irons keep your house, your hair and your money safe:
- The auto shut-off feature is a huge plus in my book. After an hour of not being used it turns itself off: perfect for those of us who forever worry about burning the house down through a moment of carelessness.
- Another feature, the button lock, looks out for the safety of your hair: you can lock it on the temp you need and won’t have to worry about accidently pushing a button and cranking up the heat as you style.
- The third safety feature protects your wallet: a fairly comprehensive two year warranty.
- The Bio Ionic has a much longer warranty (5 whole years!) but it doesn’t have the auto shut off or the button lock features that the Isa does.
- The Chi has the same length warranty but does not have the automatic shut-off or button lock features (there’s a dial which you could accidently spin as you style).
The verdict: The Isa Professional are probably the best hair straighteners to buy if you’re a little forgetful or clumsy!

What’s the Damage?
Everyone’s looking for that magic flat iron good for hair. But, the sad truth is that heat styling does damage your hair, so the best you can do is find the least damaging hair straightener and that’s the professional difference.
Tourmaline ceramic hair straighteners heat quickly to a consistent and measurable temperature so you’ll know exactly what you’re applying to your hair (375 degrees is the ideal temp: anything over 400 is too hot for hair to handle!).
Plates that are just coated in ceramic tend to get “hot spots” which make them less effective for styling and also raise the risk of damaging your lovely locks! So, while we haven’t found that magic iron good for hair, the Isa Professional will take far better care of it than its cheaper competitors.
In Great Shape
All good hair straighteners brands have a unique point of difference and, aside from the great safety features, this iron’s point of difference is its shape. I really like the rounded shape which makes it easy to curl as well as straighten with these hair straightening tongs. Another benefit is that they’re great for left-handed users as well as right.
To continue my theme of comparing professional straightening iron brands, I thought I’d take a quick look at how Isa Professional hair straighteners reviews compare to other brands on Amazon.com.
- The Bio Ionic flat iron hair straightener has an overall customer rating of 4.5 stars.
- The Chi PRO Air has an average rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars.
- The Isa Professional also has an overall rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars.
The Verdict: If we were to judge by straighteners reviews alone, the Isa is just as good as the Chi but not quite as fabulous as the Bio Ionic!
Just a note: consumer ratings often surprise me a little. One of the highest rated models by customers is actually much cheaper than any of the three I’ve been comparing. Hsi professional hair straightener reviews give it an overall consumer rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars after a staggering 23 thousand reviews! And the hsi pro costs under $50. The customers seem to love them!
Look out for a Sale!
This iron is generally priced between $120 and $140, which is quite a bit more than you pay for Chi ($80 – $100) or Bio Ionic ($100 – $130) straighteners. This surprises me a little as the other brands have the power of their name and reputation behind them whereas ISA hasn’t quite built that up yet. Personally, I wouldn’t pay full price.
If you want to make Isa yours, I recommend keeping an eye on Amazon.com for juicy hair straightening deals. Buying a flat iron of professional quality isn’t cheap but it is best for your hair (and your style), so look out for a sale and get the best value hair straighteners for the best price.
The Final Verdict: Is it for You?
This flat iron gets an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 from me. Isa is quickly becoming one of the most popular hair straightener brands in the professional realm and I can see why.
I think the Isa is the best kind of hair straightener for people who want the styling experience of a professional iron but need the peace of mind of solid safety features.
(Translation: if you’ve got butter fingers that mash buttons or you turn back three times every morning to check the toaster’s unplugged, you need this straightener NOW!)
