Why Choose Professional Flat Irons?
The Professional Touch
People are always asking me the difference between a professional flat iron and the cheaper options. How is it that one costs under $20 while the professional flat iron brands are charging more than $100?
The basic differences are in the design, durability and materials used. For example, while a cheaper iron often has metal plates coated in ceramic, a professional ceramic flat iron has solid ceramic plates which heat up better and distribute temperature evenly, leading to a more effective styling result.
The chi professional flat iron was the first of the big name professional straighteners nearly 20 years ago and they and their competitors have worked hard to develop better and better straightening technology in the decades that followed.
You can now choose between professional titanium flat irons if you have frizzy hair and need negative ions to tame that static, ceramic professional flat irons if you want a super smooth and shiny result or tourmaline professional straighteners if you want irons that slip effortlessly through coarse hair. When you try a salon professional flat iron you’ll really notice a difference in your styling result and in the health of your hair.
The flat iron professional brands also make hair straighteners which will last far longer than cheaper ones. Often, their warranties will be 2 -5 years while you can expect to replace cheaper ones every year or so.
On a side note, just because a product uses the word “professional” or “pro” in their title doesn’t actually make it a professional straightener. For example, the “hot tools professional flat iron” is a fairly good straightener (up to a point) but it’s not quite up to the mark of the best professional flat iron brands.
